I am considering buying a tablet, would like advice please

1. What is your budget?
Under $500, but can go upto $750 if I have to

2. Would you consider purchasing used/refurbished?
only if it is a great deal and had a good warranty

3. Do you prefer a Slate, Convertible or Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC)?
slate

4. What size Tablet PC would you prefer?
Compact ~ 10"
Mainstream ~ 12.1"

5. Which country do you intent to purchase from?
USA

6. Do you have any preferences to brand loyalty or dislikes?
No

7. How many hours battery life do you require?
unsure

8. What will be the primary usage scenario of this tablet?
(Email/Web Surfing/Drawing/Word Processing/Entertainment/Notetaking etc) web surfing, email, facebook, ebook reading, mainstream gaming...not hardcore gaming, watching videos such as movies

9. Do you have an OS preference?

10. What software and tasks do you intend to run?
(Microsoft Office or other Word Processing Suite/Photoshop/3D Studio Max/Autocad etc)

prefer it have an SD card slot to expand, want at least 16GB

large easy to read text/icons as I am visually impaired
ability to "sideload" apps you may get online
ability to play and learn....not locked in to what the manufacture wants you to have

this is not an item that I must have, more of a want.

Are those cheap, China tablets worth the money or are they junk? I mean do you get what you pay for, or can you find some real bargains there?

Is it better to "jailbreak" a machine or use it stock? What are the pros and cons?
