For the first time since the iPad 2’s launch in March, supply of the Apple tablets has finally caught up with demand.
Apple had trouble keeping up with the high volume of iPad 2 sales due to manufacturing constraints. Apple iPad Supply Best Catches up with Best Demand Estimated shipping times for the iPads was around a month in March and 1 to 2 weeks from April until July when they were reduced to 3 to 5 business days. Now the Apple website states that estimated shipping time for the iPad 2 for all existing models (Wi-Fi, 3G) is 1 to 2 business days, reports Fortune.

“Demand has been staggering, and I’m not going to predict when supply and demand will come into balance,” said Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook had said during an earnings call back in April. He added that Apple was facing “the mother of all backlogs,” in regards to the iPad 2.
Since its launch, Apple sold 4.69 million iPads instead of the expected 6.2 million units which disappointed analysts.
According to IHS iSuppli Rhoda Alexander, “When we looked at the manufacturing numbers, they must have run into some manufacturing issues, some quality issues in terms of turning those products around, because we didn’t see the volume manufactured that we expected to see in the first quarter. So even though we expected stronger iPad numbers in the first quarter, we expected mostly iPad 1, not iPad 2. When we were able to get estimated iPad 2 production numbers from various sources within Asia, it looked light to us.”
Still analysts are looking at news of this hastened delivery timeframe as evidence that the backlog has been fixed rather than demand sagging for the iPad 2, states AppleInsider.
This comes as rumors are circulating about a potential iPad 2 pro or iPad 3 which might come out later this year. According to TFTS, reports coming out of China are stating that Apple is looking for another manufacturer to produce the next generation iPad along with Foxconn.
