I think you're going to have a very hard time with a budget of around 100 pounds, as you're not interested in something used. The bare minimum for some of the older used models of slates, like the Fujitsu Stylistic, or the Motion le1600, is around 200-300$, in the U.S. These slates offer more than what you want in terms of being able to alter MS docs, but they're only pen input-- no finger touch.

Newer tablets Need a tablet that can view MS docs are finger input, but they're all a minimum of 500$ US new.

Also, you'd probably be most helped by reading the FAQs, which is an awesome thread. It'll teach you all about stuff like what's a slate, a convertible tablet pc, etc. Then we'll know how to better help you.

HP Touchpad 16GB for $99 new (good luck getting your hands on one though...), it has the ability to view MS powerpoint, word, excel and other documents, and can edit/ create word documents and excel files. It has a very solid e-mail system; best of all it is solidly built with great parts (good speakers, good construction, powerful internals, excellent IPS screen), and the OS is quite slick and good at multi-tasking

Honestly, the chinese knockoffs of the ipad are not worth their weight in dirt (for real), and the other 'name brand' entertainment tablets are way over priced and are usually rather junky (especially with them running android OS), and the real Tablet PC's will have active digitizer pen, but not touch input :\otherwise get yourself a used ipod touch/ iphone
